Camosun Bog  A bog is formed when a lake slowly fills with plant debris. Sphagnum moss, as well as other plants, grow out from the lake's edge. Bogs can also form when the sphagnum moss covers dry land and prevents precipitation from evaporating. Sphagnum moss is the keystone of a bog,  also sometimes called “peat moss”, without this the big would not exist. It maintains the wet and acidic conditions of the bog and as the ability to absorb tons of water. "Sphagnum maintains its acidic conditions by absorbing water and pumping hydrogen ions into its surroundings."  Peat is an accumulation of partially decayed vegetation or organic matter which helps a lot with water management and is a great habitat for wildlife. Peat is the same colour as soil however, peat has a different texture and weight, making it light and spongy which reduces drainage of water from soil. Bio 11 Scary Story Once there was were many cnidarians in the sea such as   hydroids, jellyfish, anemones, and corals. Many have a long history such as Sponges which were the first animals on earth. Cnidarians were the first   animals to have a mouth and stomach also inventing movement. One Day a fish is swimming by a cnidarian, close enough by grasp. The Cnidarian gets excited as the fish swims closer and closer until BOOM! The fish gets pulled into the cnidarian’s mouth using its deadly Tentacles, ending the fishes life which was going so very well. Cnidarians have the ability to bend in any direction most effective For such reasons as, catching food. After having a great meal the Cnidarian decides to rest, until it is slowly approached by a fellow Anemone (which is another type of cnidarian). As the Anemone gets   closer and closer, BANG! One strikes at the other and a   battle has begun! These types of battles can last up to hours and even lead to death....

     Bio 11   Where is your place.   What time is your observation and what are the weather conditions? My location is at Kingsway and Nanaimo where I had found a place with plants as you can see above. My observation was at 9:30pm and the weather felt quite warm although it was dark after sunset. 2. Why did you choose this place? What are the qualities of this place? I chose this place because it is very close to my home and I walk past these very plants everyday and think they are absolutely stunning. This place has a great community and the plants are well taken care of. 3.   What do your sensory perceptions tell you about this place?        This place is a very peaceful area with a great view, as well as healthy, beautiful plants.
