BIOLOGY 11 : ASSIGNMENT 6 NATURE NOTES

1.  Where is your place.  What time is your observation and what are the weather conditions?

This place is at Kensington Cedar Cottage Community Center, at 7:30pm. The weather conditions were warm. 

2. . Why did you choose this place? What are the qualities of this place?

I choose this place because it has many different types of plants and trees that people enjoy walking past including myself. I walk around Kensington usually every night and o thought that this place would be great. 

3..  What do your sensory perceptions tell you about this place?

This place is quiet and a calm area for you to enjoy plants and to appreciate the view. 

a. What do you see? What colours do you perceive?

I can identify all the different types of plants and see the different colours of flowers that are cared for at the park. 

b. Close your eyes, what sounds do you hear?

I hear the wind, birds chirping, and the cars that pass by. 

c. What is the mood?

The mood is very calm and relaxing as you can appreciate what we have around the world and be grateful for the nature around us. 

d.  Take a deep breath, What do you smell, what scents are here?

I smell clean air, and the scents of freshly cut grass around the neighbourhood.  

e.  What are some textures here, Reach out your hands, what do you touch? What is the temperature, the wind, is it hot, cold? Humid?

The plants feel very light and healthy. The temperature of the plants were warm since the sun was still out. 

f.   What are the living things around you?  The plants, animals? Fungi?

The living things that were around me were the plants, grass, insects such as ants.bugs, and ladybugs. 

g.   Movement and Circulation: how do you move to and from this place (bike, walk, run...)

I walk around Kensington, but there are other people that bike or run around this community since the area is very friendly.  

h.  Do you interact with others here?  (is this a path, a park, a yard, a sidewalk).  How?

Yes, people do interact with others here since it is a park. Many choose to sit on the grass and watch the sunset with their family or friends.
